story time...

hi. jenna here.
there are many things i'm not good at.  one of those is sleeping--never have been, probably never will be.  i am one of the lightest sleepers i know (probably get it from mom).  i mean, if jake rolls over, i'm up.  poor jake...i toss and turn all night long and i'm sure it messes with his sleep too (although he never says so because he's too sweet).  anyway, after a long two weeks of not sleeping very much, i decided to go to costco and get a novaform topper.  our king bed at home is a novaform and we LOVE it, so naturally i thought: this is the solution.  turns out, i didn't sleep any differently.  i ended up going into the second bedroom and sleeping on a mattress with some random blankets we have around. unfortunately, it's my love that might be the problem. jake is sad when he wakes up and i'm not there--and he knows why, which makes him feel bad (he literally sleeps at a diagonal these days. bah!).  but i have a new solution!  i moved a twin bed into our bedroom next to our queen.  i bought some cheap but very cute bedding from ikea, set it all up, and now i have my own bed! we decided that we're going to switch on and off between beds so that we both get the best of both worlds.
aren't we smart?  we'll cuddle for awhile in the queen--do whatever we normally do--and then when it's time for sleep, one of us scoots on over to the twin.  visa versa the next night.  i can't believe how fabulous of a plan this is.  so impressed with myself. and for some reason, i love how it looks.  proof that we're smart:
this is the only update i've got.  take it or leave it!  my father-in-law is on a plane as we speak coming to visit in orlando.  we're so excited to see him.  until next time.

i think this is a genius plan. my marriage teacher- she knew lots about marriage, you know, since we've been married longer- had the same problem and they just slept in separate rooms, but I think this is just such a better idea.

Oh my goodness--I know how you feel. I am the lightest sleeper too. The dog barks next door and I am awake. Even when we were back in Utah and our neighbors were a house away--if their garage opened or a car drove down the street I was up. It doesn't help that austin sleep walks almost every night--so I hardly get any sleep. But I am grateful I am a light sleeper when he sleep walks because I can catch him before he drinks a whole bottle of pepto (true story) or takes ALL the pictures off the walls (another true story).
