headaches.

i keep waking up with the worst headaches, which in turn make me feel pretty nauseous. it's noon on saturday, and i had a very large list of things to do today (i'm in the mood to be productive), but i feel bombarded by my pounding head and my gag reflex that i'm trying to mentally overpower. i feel like tylenol isn't even working like it used to. any suggestions?
feeling a little desperate here.

jenna, i feel your pain. i used to have really bad headaches for about 6 months. things that helped: massage, stretching alot (esp. the neck), strengthening back an neck muscles. hope you feel better! -jen

I've been getting really bad headaches too. Massaging FIRMLY the points in your neck that hurt while breathing deeply and then streching help. Also, (and yes this will sound strange) grabbing large fist fulls of your hair and pulling (not too hard but also firmly) helps. Add it in with the massage. It brings more blood flow to your head. O- and drink lots of water. Good Luck! And if it gets too bad, just take a nap. It may still be there when you wake up, but at least for the time you were sleeping it didn't hurt! ;)

Jenna! I got TERRIBLE headaches while I was pregnant both times. The doctor prescribed me something called "Fiorcet" It is safe to take while pregnant and has just enough caffeine in it to help you out without giving you the jitters! They describe it like a really strong Tylenol! I feel bad for you! Headaches are the worst! :) Hope you feel better soon!

This is happening to me as well, its rough! The ladies above have good advise. Try to massage your neck a bit, drink lots of water, and nibble on some snacks throughout the morning (to help with the nausea) Good luck girl.

ughh, i feel you. i'm just phasing out of my headache stage with this pregnancy. tylenol worked pretty well for me but i also found that drinking a lot (more) water helped a ton. and i am of the belief that a little caffeine (diet coke, etc) won't hurt you or the bebe. so bottoms up!

I thought of something else- take a shower or a bath. The water can be soothing.

okay, i have found that tylenol combined with a caffeinated soda and a nap take away my pregnancy headaches (which are the worst part of my pregnancies!)good luck - i totally feel your pain!

I had terrible headaches from months 4-5 with both girls...thus beginning my obsession with caffeine. My doctor once told me, if you have a choice between Dr. Pepper and Tylenol...take drink the Dr. Pepper. They will go away eventually but they totally suck..good luck!!!

i've never commented before, but i love your blog. hope you don't mind.

anyway, i was also pretty nauseous during pregnancy. anything with ginger really helped - ginger ale, ginger bread, etc. also lots of water and massages like everyone else said. good luck! the side effects of pregnancy are sometimes pretty awful, but it's so worth it and most side effects don't last your whole pregnancy.

I would get really bad headaches too. I would find that it was when I hadn't been drinking enough water or when I eat too late. Make sure you drink lots of water, and I know you're trying to stay up on your food b/c of the other post :) Yeah, it's not fun!

along with everyone else...I definitely get more headaches when i'm pregnant....it's horrible....i don't have advice...but it looks like plenty of other people did! I would just take tylenol and lay around a lot. :)

Aww I'm sorry girl! I wish I had advice. I only have my sympathy. :/

Wait, wait!!! I dont think you are supposed to take tylenol while you're preggo! It's been like 4 years since I was, so I'm not for sure, but I'm pretty sure... ask your doc before you take anymore tylenol. But I'm glad the cherry coke is working :) Maybe try lots and lots of water. You're body needs a ton right now and it shoudl help with your headaches. Maybe you're dehydrated?
