hmm...

i believe my children are growing up right before my eyes and suddenly, just today, i realized it. i also think that i am growing up a little bit right before my very own eyes and suddenly, just today, i realized it as well. sometimes being an adult is very overrated. remember when you were 16 and all you wanted to be was 25? maybe that was just me. i don't think i want to be 16 again, but i'd take my early twenties in a heartbeat. life was easier back then: going 80s dancing on thursday nights at area 51, staying up late with your roommates chatting about who knows what and eating crap, writing a paper until 3 am (yes i actually miss using my brain like that)... i had a great time in college.

sure, life may have been easier, but i will say that life is so much better now, even with the challenges and decisions and everything that comes along with being a grown up. what's better than being in love with 3 people? 2 of which only go up to your thighs?

i went to world market today and forgot how much i love that store. i also went a little crazy at gap kids because there were very cute things on sale... and i can't deny a good sale. or that swimming cap on goldie's head in the photo above (it's annie's, by the way).

i've gained 5 pounds. so, that's cool.

goldie was wading in the lake yesterday, water up to her knees, and of course she lost her footing and went face first under the water. jake jumped in and saved her. she was under for like .2 seconds because he was nearby, but it about gave me a heart attack. imagine the most dramatic, throaty scream, "GET HER!!" and you'll know how i sounded. we stripped her down, put my sweatshirt on her, and got some pizza. pizza makes everything better.

me: goldie, what happened to you today?
goldie: i fell in da water!

before all the craziness, we were feeding the ducks. my kids are not only funny, but they're smart. both of them would take a bite of the bread before giving the rest of the piece to the ducks. i mean it's genius. one for me. one for you.
i would definitely choose them to be in my end-of-the-world survival group.

anyway, i'll conclude this with my new favorite quote in the world (and that's saying a lot because i read a lot):

"Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don't judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone's differences, weakness, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn't handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage or another's weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best from each other."

-Marvin J. Ashton ("The Tongue Can Be a Sharp Sword", Ensign, May 1992.)- but this quote was in the February 2012 edition as well.

that's one of my favorite quotes as well. i've been thinking about old, carefree times lately as i've enjoyed/struggled being a new mom and having to be les selfish :) your kids are adorable, i can't believe they are both getting so big! -jen
